First Day of School

So I am a week behind but I did get pictures of our kids on the first day of school – they are not the best but wanted to make sure I documented their start of school here is Texas.204

Katie, 11, started 6th grade at Opal Hamilton Middle School – the school her Aunt Asia was the first graduating class from.  She was very nervous, anxious, worried and any other word you can come up with but did beautifully and has come home every day saying how wonderful it is.  We were able to go and visit the school, get her schedule, remember/learn how to open a locker (it has been a while for me) and find all of her classes which I think really helped.

199 Excited Katie!

Caleb, 8, started 3rd grade.  Caleb has been the most vocal about not wanting to go to school here in Texas and about missing his friends in Herrin so his week was a little less thrilling.  He had a hard time finding the courage to make friends.  I am hoping that the next few weeks bring  friends and comfort in a new school environment.  With the boys we were able to go and meet their teachers, deposit school supplies, etc. the Saturday before school started.  This seemed to help – the boys are at Hamilton Elementary where Aunt Cyndi and Asia attended.  I had forgotten that it was an open concept school or as Sammy says there are no walls!  The boys both have two teachers that trade off subjects.  I think Caleb is most excited about computer lab and the books he can get at the library.

201 Tragic Caleb.

Sammy, 7, started 2nd grade.  Listening to Sammy school is great!  A neighbor and primary class friend are in his school class.  Sammy is just happy to go I think.  We were most worried about the open concept with our ADD boy but he is doing great and I am so happy!

207  Happy Sammy!

So what did we do the first day – play with the babies!

So I really love that your 11 year old is already taller than you. It's a glimpse into my future. I love you! Is it fun to have your family in the old house? I loved living in Grandmas house and making new memories in a place where I had old memories of being loved so much.
