We wanted to go caroling to an assisted living center but needed lots of help with the voice part of that. My kids are enthusiastic but can’t hold a tune in a bucket so we invited along the Turpin’s and my parents and Mandy and Nathan. We sang for about 20 minutes and then we Jessi, Lizzy and Becca played string instruments and Mandy and Nathan played the piano. The kids got lots of applause and the residents enjoyed the music (probably because they couldn’t hear the Ricks singing).
After we came back to the house and decorated sugar cookies, ate some snacks and hung out for a while. I employed all the kids to decorate the cookies for the teachers, co-workers, etc. They turned out cute and were yummy. It was Marlissa’s first experience with the decorating cookies – she kept adding more and more icing and sprinkles and in the end took two bites and walked away – funny girl.
It was a fun experience and a tradition we would like to continue.
